Your Questions, Our Answers
FAQs
Do I need a referral from my doctor for medical massage? Will insurance cover a massage?
A referral is not required, but in NJ, having one from an MD or chiropractor exempts you from sales tax and may improve reimbursement eligibility through FSA or HSA accounts. Contact your insurance provider for policy benefits.
Can I deduct Massage Therapy as a medical expense?
Typically not, however, depending on your situation, you may be able to claim it. Having a medical referral may be helpful. Please consult your tax professional for clarification. Please ask for a receipt at the time of service; otherwise, we may have to charge for record retrieval time.
Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.
