Relief, Recovery, and Wellness with Medical Massage

Our medical massage therapists have specialized training to address chronic pain, support injury recovery, and enhance overall wellness. We blend expertise with compassionate care, creating a supportive environment where your healing is our priority. By collaborating with physicians and healthcare providers, we deliver effective treatments tailored to your unique needs.

What is Medical Massage Therapy?

Medical massage therapy is a targeted, therapeutic approach designed to address specific medical conditions. This treatment is often prescribed or recommended by healthcare professionals and is performed by licensed massage therapists with advanced training.

Medical massage is a stand-alone therapy and works well in conjunction with physical therapy to reduce pain, improve mobility, and accelerate recovery. At Massage Therapy Group, our customized sessions focus on relieving discomfort and restoring function for long-term health benefits.

FAQs

Will I need more than one medical massage session?
The number of sessions depends on your condition. While some clients experience relief after one session, chronic issues often require 3–4 sessions for lasting improvement. For best results, schedule sessions about a week apart initially to break the pain-spasm-pain cycle. As your condition improves, sessions can be spaced out or transitioned into a maintenance schedule.
A referral is not required, but in NJ, having one from an MD or chiropractor exempts you from sales tax and may improve reimbursement eligibility through FSA or HSA accounts. Massage therapy is typically an out-of-pocket expense. Contact your insurance provider for policy benefits.

Rates vary from $98–$115 for a 60-minute session (subject to change). The number of sessions needed depends on your condition. View Rates

For deeper work, wait 4–5 days to allow the area to normalize. Early sessions should be scheduled 1–2 weeks apart for the best results.
Some discomfort is normal as tight muscles are released, often described as a “hurts so good” sensation. The therapist will ensure the pressure remains within your comfort level (4–6 on a 1–10 scale). Always communicate if it becomes too intense.

Post-massage care may include hydration, cold therapy for soreness, Epsom salt baths, or light stretching and cardio to enhance recovery. Your therapist may provide personalized recommendations.

What Our Clients Say

I cannot say enough good things about Gail and the staff at Massage Therapy Group. I have been seeing Gail for over a year and it doesn’t matter what ailment or injury I come into my session with, she always has an answer and finds THE SPOT or spots that need to be worked on. And as a physical therapist I have sent many of my patients to the many therapists that work here and not one has been disappointed and they make my job easier. Thank you so much for your amazing work and expertise!!

Great group of therapists. Warm environment with reasonable rates. My GP recommended Gail based on my neurological symptoms. I see her every three weeks. Gail is very knowledegable, intuitive, and sensitive to what your body needs, hitting the right trigger points, offering just the right amount of pressure, and even following up afterward. While there are many massage therapists available and I have been to many over the past 20 years, she is the one I prefer and the one I always go back to.

I have been going to this place since the doors opened decades ago. Even after moving a good distance away, I travel back for treatment. This is way more than a feel-good spa massage. I came with injuries both before and after surgery. The owner, Gail Kinsey has trained, skillful staff. I was very active in martial arts and sent a friend to her for treatment. We both agree that Gail is a wizard.
